This is a minor revision of the first blog that I shared with you last December (2010). I find it appropriate to share again as we journey through another Christmas season. We all tend to find ways to be a little too busy during this time of year, when what we really need is some quiet time during which to reflect and re-connect with ourselves. Whether you are reading this for the first time or second or more, I hope that it serves as a reminder to enjoy silence in balance with celebration.
Silent Night, Holy Night
2011
It is not yet Christmas Eve, however, I stepped outside at midnight to extinguish some lights and I felt the peace that I so often do on Christmas Eve. "Silent Night, Holy Night, All is Calm, All is Bright"....what would it take for us to feel this "Silent, Holy, Calm, Brightness" on most eves? Possibly a stronger connection to ourselves by finding a piece of silence in the midst of a hectic world?! Possibly a Belief, a Faith, a Knowing that this journey called life holds many lessons in growth that will eventually allow us to live as a balance of Human and Spirit with our Hearts at the core?!
In finding this balance, we realize that in being human, we will continue to feel many emotions as our hearts bend, break and somehow continue to beat as we ride the roller coaster of life. Amazingly though, while living in balance, we allow our spirits to soar to the greater heights of love, empathy and service.
By allowing a few moments of stillness each and every day, we provide the possibility of self re-connection. As we re-connect, we notice the "Silent, Holy, Calm, Brightness" that exists within and hope that it simply exudes for all to see.
Merry Christmas with Peace, Love and Joy,
Dr. Lorri
