Precious Moments
Time goes by so quickly. Long planned events come and go. Holidays come and go and even relationships come and go! Sadly, we speak often of how quickly time passes, yet we continue to allow it to pass without maximizing the connections of each moment.
All too often we hear stories of people becoming ill or being involved in a terrible accident and they suddenly realize the importance of time spent with loved ones. The Hallmark channel consistently shows movies with the theme of someone returning “home” due to the illness or death of a family member and while there they have the epiphany that their busy lives have taken them far away from their roots. Illness, accidents, deaths, endings remind us of the pleasure of sharing a dinner, having a conversation or exchanging a simple touch.
Sadly, it often appears to be “too late” to mend broken fences because someone was too busy to nurture the “precious moments” while they were occurring!
When will we realize the magic of a precious moment? When will we realize the healing force of a smile or a hug or a word? When will we realize that we exist to connect and that the main source of pain in the world is disconnection from each other?
When will we decide to live the “Precious Moments” of life while being thankful for the past and hopeful for the future?
How about today? Reach out and touch someone, in this moment in time!
Know that the grass is not always greener elsewhere!
And remember that our roots helped us to develop wings!
Happy Precious Moments,
Dr Lorri
