Deserving our Desires

Deserving Our Desires

Many years ago, I began wondering about when in our growth process, we forget that we actually "deserve?" As children, we believe that we deserve everything! We ask for anything in sight and when we are told "no", we simply ask again (and again). We may have even taken a tantrum to push to receive what we really felt that we "deserved."

Somewhere along the journey though, we are taught that asking for things is not polite or signifies that we want too much! We then decide to stop asking as we begin to feel selfish.

We are taught that God will give when He is ready, if ever. We begin to believe that we must have to be "extra special" to receive even a 10th of what we desire. Sadly, we are all special "enough" to receive 100% of our askings, but just do not feel that we are "deserving enough!"

There is hope in changingjabez this thought process! Many years ago, a book entitled "The Prayer of Jabez" was circulating through many people and places with the profound theme being to ask for our blessings, accept them, and then give from abundance.

Having being raised in humble beginnings and being taught at home, school, church and society that those who had "more" were somehow different than me, I initially struggled with the message of this book. However, there was something inside of me that believed that if I began thinking differently, asking for the highest and best of who God created me to be and then living in service while accepting my desires, that I would then be in a position to give from abundance. This was not an easy transition, however after having taken every step to make it, I must say that giving from a "full pot" seems a lot easier and smarter than an empty one.

I now believe that I "deserve", but I will say with one major condition.....

I must be willing to give back, in some form, in some way and with a very large smileJ

Please, return to the heart of your childhood and ask for your desires and as you "receive", scoop from that "full pot" and simply enjoy as others begin to feel full!

With blessings from above,
